Windows Phone 7 is actually an operating system. It is ofcourse developed by Microsoft and it is successor to their Windows Mobile OS. Aside from obvious user interface changes, new look and feel, Microsoft is going to be very restrictive about the hardware platforms where it will run. Original name of the new platform should have been Windows Phone 7 Series which Microsoft dropped as being too wordy to marketize. By estimates Microsoft is investing more than $400 million in the new platform advertising. The WP7 is set to be multi-lingual from the start supporting English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.
Bing Application on Windows Phone 7
Locking the search to specific Bing application is no wonder. By hardware integration guidelines, Microsoft is requesting all hardware vendors implementing Windows Phone 7 to include search button on their devices. Its function will depend on the context of the Windows Phone 7 is currently in. For example on the people pages it will trigger people search function. Its general function however will open Windows Phone 7 Bing mobile application.

Windows Phone 7 is followin suite of the Microsoft operating systems – it has integrated Windows update application. There shall be two ways of updating the Windows Phone 7, either directly “on-the-air” or via Zune application via USB.
